Torrevieja allocates nearly €382,000 to modernize public lighting in different neighborhoods
The Torrevieja City Council, through the Department of Public Lighting, has carried out a number of actions to improve the lighting system in various parts of the city, with a total investment of €381,800.
The work has included the repair, refurbishment, painting, and protection of lighting columns that were in poor condition, with the aim of ensuring proper maintenance and enhancing the safety of these facilities.
As explained by the Councillor for Public Lighting, Concha Sala, 377 columns have been refurbished and a further 70 have been replaced after being classified by municipal technical services as hazardous or at risk of failure. In addition, the network has been upgraded with the installation of 147 new LED luminaires, improving both energy efficiency and lighting quality.
These improvements have been carried out in areas such as Aldea del Mar, near Playa de los Locos; Manzanilla Street, in the Las Barcas area; and Escorpiones Street, located on the former La Campana estate.
Furthermore, the Local Government Board approved last Friday, December 12, the award of a new contract for the installation of lighting points in areas without coverage or in locations requested by residents. The areas included are Eugenio Segarra Street, Gardenias Street, a green area on Patricio Pérez Street next to the N-332 bypass, several sections of Rosa Mazón Valero Avenue, Plaza de las Islas Canarias, and Orihuela Street next to the CV-905.
The initial tender budget amounted to €222,508, although the final contract was awarded for €176,233, representing a significant reduction in cost. The company awarded the contract is Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas S.A., which will include, among other improvements, the installation of 46 point-to-point remote management units.
The planned execution period for these works is three months.
