Brilla Torrevieja: Five Years of Lighting Up Summer with Music, Community, and Culture

What began as a charitable initiative among friends during the pandemic has evolved into one of the most prominent festivals on Spain’s eastern coast. In 2025, Brilla Torrevieja celebrates its fifth anniversary, firmly established as a cultural phenomenon that has grown steadily while staying true to its local, inclusive, and transformative spirit.

From a Solidarity Idea to a Musical Landmark

It was the summer of 2020 when a group of friends decided to organize a small afternoon event to raise funds for local organizations. It was a modest affair, but the enthusiasm sparked by that first gathering ignited something much bigger. “We wanted to do something that would motivate us, but also be helpful,” recalls Pablo Pamies Manresa, one of the festival’s founders.

A year later, in 2021, Brilla Torrevieja officially came to life. With a debut lineup featuring artists like Jorge Drexler, Niña Pastori, and Sidecars, the festival immediately showed signs of becoming a well-crafted, ambitious project with staying power.

Steady Growth, Real Impact

Since then, Brilla has experienced remarkable growth: tripling its length, expanding its venues, and drawing over 150,000 attendees to date. In 2024 alone, the festival welcomed more than 33,000 people, and for 2025, it is expected to reach over 50,000 visitors and generate an estimated €5 million in local economic impact.

Brilla has brought more than music to Torrevieja—it has brought jobs, economic energy, and a deeper connection between the festival and its surroundings. Over 80% of its suppliers are local, forming a strong network of collaboration with businesses, associations, and professionals from the Vega Baja region. “We wanted Brilla to be part of the city, not just an event that comes and goes,” says Pamies.

A Diverse Lineup for All Audiences

One of Brilla Torrevieja’s key strengths lies in its commitment to musical diversity. From international stars to local talent, emerging genres to family-friendly shows, the festival strives to reach a wide range of audiences without compromising quality or identity.

For the 2025 edition, the festival offers a lineup that reaffirms its inclusive spirit:

  • Camilo (August 13)

  • Rels B & Walls (August 3)

  • Space Elephants (August 3)

  • Luli Pampín (August 7)

  • Brilla Remember (August 8)

  • La Noche es Comedia (August 9)

And that’s just a taste. Over ten days, Torrevieja transforms into a cultural hub, with open-air concerts, family activities, a carefully curated food zone, and immersive decorations that make Brilla a warm, inviting experience.

Beyond the Stage

Brilla wouldn’t be what it is without the heart behind it: a team driven by passion, friendship, and commitment to their hometown. Early stories—like friends stepping in to serve drinks at packed bars or the time a walkway collapsed minutes before opening—have become part of the festival’s DNA. That human touch is felt in every detail.

The Future: Keep Shining

In just five years, Brilla Torrevieja has accomplished something remarkable: becoming a must-attend summer event on the Mediterranean, a cultural and economic force for its city, and a living example of how music can unite, uplift, and leave a lasting mark.

“We want August to be synonymous with Brilla,” says Pamies. And it seems they’re well on their way. Because Brilla is more than a festival—it’s a celebration of community, identity, and shared passion. And this is only the beginning.
